Step by Step to setup null modem PPP to windows xp
« on: February 06, 2008, 10:07:32 PM »
So I am cheap and don't have an amiga ethernet card, but I have been using a null modem to transfer files via terminal emulation. I would like to use the same setup, but ppp into my windows xp box using its "internet sharing" service. I have both amitcp v4.0 and the genesis that came with amigaos 3.9. I have been unable to get it to work, and couldn't really find any step by step instructions. The best i could figure out was that the windows box needs some sort of propmt before it'll go into ppp mode (not even sure about this). Does anyone have instructions, URLs, scripts, pointers on how to do this?

Thanks.

Back in the day I used Mocha W32 PPP as a ppp gateway for an old laptop to my Windows XP box to connect to the internet because the laptop lacked an ethernet port, and I was too cheap to get a pcmcia card for it.

It says palm/windows ce but it should work with an Amiga just the same.

Oh and once you have that running (the IP connection to your pc) you could setup SAMBA for sharing files.
