SoundProbe WORKS under OS4
« on: January 21, 2008, 07:43:52 AM »
And, it's more usable than ever!

Maybe my memory is just severely fragmented...

I couldn't get this program to work for YEARS, since I upgraded to 060 w/>128M RAM.  Maybe I'll get back into audio work again!

Anyone working on a software compatibility list?

For me, a sad muso, this is good news.  At the moment I flip back and forth between Linux & Windows for my Audio editing needs.  Can't wait for the day when I can use Amiga OS (of one description or other)exclusively.

I cut my teeth on Octamed all those years ago so I have fond memories of the Amiga and writing music.

I left the music scene many many years ago and returned recently - Windoze seems to have a mixed bag of software as far as audio editing is concerned (sigh).

Now all I want is a good tracker to patch my Guitar samples and vocals together and I'm in with a chance.

Any VST compatible apps on the horizon anyone?

@AMC258,

Soundprobe works great on my 060 w/ 64mb of ram? Much faster then my 030.

Effects render in seconds rather then a minute. Nice speedup. Nice to know that it works on OS4.

I was going to ask the same question.  I have every sound program made for the Amiga, but still haven't been able to track this one down.  Anywhere we can still get it?

Thats excellent news, Soundprobe is written in AmigaE - maybe other software written with it is just as compatible.

Soundprobe hasn't been updated since about 1998 (IIRC) but has some excellent features and is easy to customize - Sadly it's not available for purchase, but definitely should be as I there is still a use for this on the Amiga.

Its a shame that this program isnt available anymore. I'm still using version 1.76. I never got version 2.0 which I think was the last one for the Amiga.

Its the best Sample editor I ever used on the Amiga. It can do real time effects on a 25mhz 030!

It supports AHI and alot of samplers like Megalosound.Clarity16, Arua, etc.....

Anyone know how to contact the author? I know there was a PC version as well. Maybe he would realese it as freeware?

Um yeah, I'm interested.  But it looks like someone has already beaten me to it.

Anyone else got a copy available?  This app seems out-of-print.

Can it operate with 16-bit cards such as the Repulse?

@ral-clan,

I just noticed that he's in Norway so I'm not likely to want to pay shipping charges to the US.

If the repulse has an AHI driver then yes it should work fine.

I've looked everywhere to try and find the author of this program with no luck!

Even the PC version seems to have been abandoned long ago.(I only found torrents) Hisoft is now a web design company?

Once again, it sucks that people want to buy and use this product with no way to get it unless its on ebay (very rare) or through piracy.

I guess I'll have to try out SoundFX. Is it any good? Can you still buy it?

Make sure it's still in stock first of course...  Note that it says this software is not knocked up....

@AMC258,

Yea, I've sent Softwarehut an email about it. They havent responded to any of my emails over the last year or so about anything though.

I think their new amiga policy is: If they dont have it, they dont answer your email. :-P
