MK2Update failed. Dead?
« on: December 25, 2006, 12:35:56 PM »
Hi,

I did the MK2Update to get the latest cybscsi.device in. Allthough the flash tool said everything went OK I have the feeling it didn't because the system doesn't boot anymore.

I get the flashing colors, I can reset the system via the keyboard but after that nothing happens. The diskdrive also doesn't run.

Can Amiga Center in France take off the ROM, reflash and solder it back on? Or is it dead beyond repair now.

Did you close the jumper on the board which is needed to perform the flash?

Hmmm....I removed a lot of components from my system and it started booting again. I redid the flash without the SCSI adapter connected and it now actually says 8.6 if I ask for the version.

I first used the MK2Update from the SCSI Tools 2.4 disk. The Second time I used the one AmigaFR mentioned.

I'm now going to add all the components again. Either the first flash did not go correctly or my power supply has at the same time developed power supply problems?

Weird this!!!!

Nope, don't have it overclocked.

This is really weird but everything seems to be working properly again!

Everything is back in except the VLab Motion 1.3 since I'm not using it anyway. So I don't know what happened.

Maybe the first flash wasn't OK even though it said it was or some other weird and strange thing happened.

Oh and here is another strange and mystical thing.

Why is that if I put a diskdrive in the Amiga 4000 casing it seems to produce read errors but when I take it out it performing OK.

I have 3 A4000 with that stupid behaviour.

that diskdrive thing is probably caused by poor connection.
first check the PSU connector on A4000 motherboard, clean it and 'tighten it' especially +5V (yellow IIRC), then do the rest like floppy cable..
Better sorry than worry.
