Try pressing space when you go to the early startup menu. This should switch between 50Hz and 60Hz. Although it is not intended for this, it can have the effect of making the image on a TV larger and smaller.

This is assuming your TV can cope with both.

It might work, but the game may reset it back to normal.

Suck it and see.

As alexh implied this sounds like a NTSC vs PAL problem.
You're trying to run the PAL version of the game on an
NTSC television, right? PAL has more vertical lines, and
if your TV can't display PAL the bottom 56 lines, or so,
will be clipped off.
Theology is just a debate over who to frame for creating reality.

connect it with RGB SCART cable, it will correct position and give you much better quality.
Some games use devs:system-configuration (very rarely though) , so you could try playing with Prefs in workbench..
Better sorry than worry.

you can't fix it. you either have to :
1- find a NTSC version of the game
2- find a PAL capable TV/monitor.
I believe in mt. Fuji

SCART connectors aren't an option on an NTSC system.  Since he has MORE graphics than is visible, that means he's on an NTSC system.

I'd recommend the second option since most software for the Amiga runs in PAL mode.  I'm in the same situation as you though, my 1084S monitor died years ago.

Has anybody asked whether his television or display mode is NTSC?

He has a PAL Alice chip (see 5th post in this thread)...

He is in the UK...

Sorry, I hadn't seen that second thread.  I just figured that if he was displaying an NTSC image on a PAL TV it would have a thick border at the bottom.
