CV64 VGA to VGA cable.
« on: January 13, 2008, 08:43:57 PM »
Hi to all,

I do not have the small VGA-VGA cable to use the passthrough of my CV64...
Before making any tests with some risks, I have some questions:
* is this cable a standard VGA-VGA cable?
* since I cannot find it and I would not like to use a standard long cable, I was thinking about buying a Voodoo 1 or 2 that were equipped with similar small cables; in this case the question is: are these cables compatible with the CV64?

Bye and thank you

The cable is straight through. I soldered my own up up, connecting pin 1->1 .. 15->15.

I have used both a long vga cable and a short voodoo type pass through cable. both worked fine.

No, the Voodoo "1" cable is totally different from a standard VGA cable (it uses a round connector on one side).
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Ok... I did not checked... I SUPPOSED the Voodoo 1 and 2 shared the same connector... now I am following a Voodoo 2 card...
But... what about soldering of the cable? Sorry but I don't understand... :-(

It seems there were a few different voodoo1 cables. The one i used was actually from a creative dxr2 mpeg card but was the same as the cable i had on my voodoo2.

i recall some manufacturers even using mac style connectors instead of 15 pin D..

I can verify what Bazzaq says  (I had a Voodoo1 with standard VGA, like Voodoo2)

:-? Yours must have been different than mine, on both my voodoo 1 and voodoo2 there was a straight through cable. On my dvd decoder card (yes my pc was too slow to be able to decode dvds itself) there was a custom round connector to vga.

I have just bought a Voodoo 2 12 Mb with cable.
From the photos the cable has 2 VGA connector!
As soon as I have it I tell if it is ok!
