Amiga 2000 and Amiga 2500
« on: January 13, 2008, 03:56:53 AM »
Hello all, I have a question.  I am being offered an Amiga 2500.  My question is:

I have an Amiga 2000 that will not boot, will I be able to use my Amiga 2000 stuff on the A2500?  Keyboard, Mouse, Acellerator (68040/33), and some other cards I have in my A2000?

Thanks.

They are exactly the same except for the sticker on the front and some extra cards inside (SCSI card & 020 accelerator board sometimes).
Music I've made using Amigas and other retro-instruments: http://theovoids.bandcamp.com

@Dmaster,

I have an A2500 too. It is actually an A2000 that was outfitted with either an '020 or '030 accelerator and a hard disk when they were built so they were re-branded as A2500s by Commodore afaik. It has a real A2000 motherboard inside. Mine originally had a 68020 card and 2090a controller - long gone now.

You can safely use all A2000 expansions in it. I know this from experience. I have had just about every kind of A2000 card in mine - cpu cards (020, 030, 040 and 060), graphics cards, sound cards, networking cards etc.

Absolutely.  There is nothing that works in a 2000 that won't work in a 2500, and vice versa.
