A3000, replacing power supply?
« on: January 12, 2008, 12:40:01 AM »
Hi,

It seems my A3000 PSU is starting to rot as I have problems with powering up the hard disks. It might be that the cabling has gone bad (the previous owner has clearly mistreated the whole chassis), but to be on the safe side, I'd like to replace the whole PSU. Has anyone any experience in replacing the PSU with some MicroATX one? Is it possible to simply replace the internals of the original PSU or do you need some custom job done to fit a new PSU? I know I'll need to implement the TICK using a simple PCB (or use the jumper) in any case as ATX PSUs don't provide the needed signal.

Regards,
Mikko.

Yes, it is easy to do.

The original PSU case is big enough to hack an AT or ATX PSU inside with no problems.

But you need to build a tick generator yourself. Or relocate the J300 jumper.

This is an easy hack to A2000 owners, too!
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

If A3000 has same power as A2000

http://aminet.net/docs/hard/A2000T.lha this file contains very simply picture (Figure4.iff) to info how connect Amiga mobos powerplug to AT wires

At side u  can look here http://www.technick.net/public/code/cp_dpage.php?aiocp_dp=pinconmth_at_power

just open the A2000/A3000 power and put At power stuff inside of that and solder powercord plugwires to reach back of machine.. just do it safely ..if u wont want to your amiga blow sky high :)

remember there is a jumper in mobo it has to removed..if dont do that remove..machine will reboots and give only white/grey bootpic

Kaikki tää toimii mikäli A3000 poweri vastaa A2000

there also some info about using ATX
