Nice Amiga 3000
« on: December 28, 2007, 12:02:05 AM »
Note that this isn't my auction, but I spotted a nice 3000 on eBay for a nice price in the States.

It's quite a good little usable setup I'd say, all it needs is 3.1 ROMS/OS then you have a decent machine

It comes with 030 with FPU, and 14 Meg RAM (2 of which is chip)

For the full details look here,  but for anyone who needs a decent Amiga for cheap this is a nice system

It looks very clean and white, I wonder if the floppy drive is 880kb or 1.76mb?

The owner claims it was kept in a "peaceful" environment, so I guess you won't have to worry about OS1.3's "say" program hurling obscenities at you when you boot it up!  :lol:  :lol:  :lol:

I need money right now and I am getting tempted to sell 2 or 3 systems to catch up on some bills.  Is anyone here interested in paying a huge price on an 060 A2000, or an A3000 w/040 WarpEngine plus some extras?  (god I hate selling my toys to pay bills!!!)

Good thing I have a decent UPS, the power has gone out twice in the last 30 minutes and 5 times in the last 6 months.

Damn, this is right where I live! It'll probably get way too expensive, though. :(

@amigadave,

I see that you have an A3000 with a warpengine. I bought a warpengine for my A3000 recently and haven't been able to get the warpengine scsi to work (at all). The A3000 will not boot with a hard drive attached to the warpengine scsi. Anything special I should know? Thanks.

If you havent ever done the INT_2 mod to the A3000 this is why. Its a simple 2 point solder connection on the A3000's motherboard bottom. It takes like 30 seconds to do. Lots of listings here if you search for it showing how its done.

@Acill,

The warpengine has its own jumper wire to one of the CIAs to get the INT_2 signal. When it didn't work I tried the famous INT_2 fix as well and it didn't make any difference. That is why I'm wondering if there is anything else I should be looking at. I only have the rev 04 WD scsi chip. Do you need rev 08? These chips are extremely hard to come by.

I also used the jumper wire fix instead of the back of the MB solder fix and I don't have the 08 scsi chip and my WarpEngine scsi works fine (very fast).  I am sure you must have already checked for termination and/or scsi id conflicts.  If not check those two items.

@Amigadave

Got it. It was the hard drive. For some reason it did not like the one I was using. I installed an IBM 4.5GB Wide SCSI that I just got to the warpdrive and it works great. Double the speed of the onboard scsi.

From the description and the photo's you can see that the floppy drives are 880k, that this is a very early A3000 and that it has Kickstart 1.4

As predicted, this is now officially way too expensive for me.

Any guesses on how much this will go for?  What's something like this worth in the real world?
