Blizzard 1230 IV 50Mhz lockups. Overheating? Help!
« on: December 29, 2006, 03:14:50 PM »
Im trying to get my A1200 in order and am having a problem with random lockups after it has been on a while.

Have Blizzard 1230 IV in trapdoor with 64Mb and SCSI attachment. The 50 Mhz 030 chip seems to get really hot even though the trapdoor is left off and the machine is slightly raised.

After a while Workbench will lock up or if playing games, the gfx will corrupt and the machine will reboot.

Surely it is not normal to have to put a slimline heatsink on such a config but if so where do I get one thin enough and how do I glue it on??!?!

Regards

Digging up and old thread but - did you resolve this at all?  My 1200 starts crashing and flashing a red screen on power after a short while up unless I leave the trapdoor cover off, the 1200 raised and a fan moving a bit of air.

Can't recall having such problems on the 1230/50 mk3 I once had a few years ago.   :-?

I use to use my 1200 with this cooling system (before I move it to a tower + Mediator + Apollo 040):

The system never hangs on me by the heat. No need to raise the computer, just use a cuted trapdoor (only the border of it remain). The fan is a small, lateral (stand-up) notebook one.
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
