As an Amiga collector I really love the classic hardware, specficially graphics cards and big-box accelerators. I have two A4000T, several A4000's, an AmigaOne, and various other bits including a CD32 and Pegasos-2.
So when I acquired an A4000T/060 just recently I expected it to come with a Quikpak 060 board - as can be seen pictured on my website:
http://www.hd-zone.com/amiga/quickpak.htmlHowever, much to my surprise, the A4000T came with a 68060 card that I have never seen before! On the board it is written: A4000-060 XP Rev. 2.
I believe it is very similar to the GVP 4060 on Greg Donner's site, but again, looking at the photos Greg has, and the photos of the amiga hardware sites, my card is a totally different card!!
It is not listed on the Big book of Amiga hardware (
http://hardware.amigafuture.de/), nor is it listed on the Amiga Hardware Database (
http://amiga.resource.cx/). Greg Donner (
http://www.gregdonner.org/gvp4060/gvp4060.html) does make mention of the manual for this card on his site, but there are no photos of it!
Would anyone be interested in seeing a photo of it? I have made several and I can post them on my site tonight. It's quite a professional looking rectangular board with 4 EDO-capable simm sockets, layout space for a SCSI chip and two SCSI connectors (50 and 68 pin) (the manual mentions SCSI-3!). Too bad it didn't come with SCSI! Apparently the SCSI versions never shipped.
I am, however, having some difficulty getting my Cybervision 64 to work with this accelerator in the A4000T. The machine will hang and reboot shortly after booting up in a Cyberstorm screenmode. It works for awhile then hangs. Not sure why. It could be the cyberstorm or an incompatibility with the 060 card or 060 library that ships with this card - it's the same one the Quikpak 060 uses.
I thought I knew all of the accelerators for A4000, but I guess I was wrong... Nice to be surprised
