Hi Drummerboy,
I think the real problem with openning MS Word documents in a foreign program, is that Word's inconsistent and buggy use of formatting markup. MS Word can't even open its own documents in a consistent manner.
 ....Aint that about right!
@ Drummerboy
Just want to share a story with you:
Back in 1994, I was doing an ONC in Mech/Electrical Engineering along with Advanced A Level maths. We had a huge shortage of Pee Cee's in the CAD Suite at college & I desperately needed to print out about 8 presentations for my course work. The tutor allowed me to take my A4KD 040 in to use it, as well as Demo it to anyone who showed interest! :-D
Lots scoffed & LOL'd saying things like....an Amiga!....Isn't that one of those Games machines?
Anyway, they soon shut up watching me Render an Imagine 3 object to Export in DXF format for Autocad 13 on the crap 486 66's hanging around the Cad Suite.
They were amazed at the miggy being able to format a Pee Cee floppy, then write the exported DXF file to Floppy, chuck it in the 486 & load it into Autocad. Whilst all this was going on, I was printing across the network to one of the Cad Suites Deskjet 550 printers & banging away in Final Writer to finalise some more course work, as well as formatting a partiton on one of the SCSI drives. (just to really show off :-D )
At one point, the Tutor insisted everyone got back to their work stations. The Amiga just stopped the place dead!
Bill, ur havin a laugh! :-D
Oliver is dead right about some of M$'s tags that scramble things up sometimes, But I remember Importing Word docs into Final writer without too many problems. I never really did it the other way cos my miggy was more than adequate. Another thing worth considering as well is the Version of Word you are exporting/saving from. Word can also save in different formats like Rich Text document, Wordpad etc & different file types will probably give you different results when you Import them to Fianl Writer. Just experiment for the best results. ;-)
There is some Adobe support on Aminet, though I never had much luck getting many PDF's to open correctly. I don't know if there is a version of PDF software for Amiga that allows you to Write PDF files. If there was, Adobe on the Pee Cee might have issues as I have seen trying to read PDF's on the Amiga?
All the best with your quest, I wish you luck. :-)
