Identifying my MK3
« on: October 13, 2007, 02:14:04 PM »
As you can see from my screenshot, ShowBoards thinks my MK3 is a Phase 5 board (ShowBoardsMUI window, board 4). Can this be trusted? I'm about to flash the board's firmware so I need to know 100% that it's correct since the DCE board uses a different firmware. I have looked at the card, but can't see any way of identifying it from the top and it's screwed in. If there's any way ShowBoards could be wrong I need to know so I can unscrew the card and check.

TIA

Have you noticed that there is NO DCE version?

The file called BigPPC060Update is not in the latest flash release, even though the TXT still tells you about it?

In fact it isnt in any of them ;)

No I didn't notice that :lol: So I guess it's MK3Update regardless of which version I've got.

Moto: You have a Phase5 board.  100%
Sure.  OT, but I would take the CybervisionPPC out before you flash anything.  That very same (broken) CybervisionPPC you have is the same one that went up in smoke on me while flashing a Cyberstorm card that it was plugged in to a few years back.  Strangely the Cyberstorm was undamaged; even the firmware load was ok, just the Graphics card went up in flames.  I sent it to France for surgery, but JJB wasn't able to bring it back.  He said he repaired a burnt trace and it worked, but was still very "unstable".  Did you have any luck getting that thing going, btw?

Primary:
A4000T. Phase5 PPC604e-233mhz/060-66mhz. Mediator, Z3 Fastlane, Voodoo5, Delfina, X-Surf, AD516, Peggy Plus.

Collection:
A4000D, A1200, A500, Milan060 (Atari clone), Atari MegaSTE, Atari TT030, C64, C128, Mattel Aquarius, (2) HP Jornada....

@stopthegop
No I never tried it TBH. I'm a bit cautious about it since you said you had problems with it. I might try it one day, when I'm feeling brave :-) Thanks for confirming the make of the card. You should know ;-)
