BLizzard Vision or PCI & Voodoo 3?
« on: July 30, 2003, 06:25:50 PM »
Hi

I've got a Phase 5 Powerup board that I want to put into my A1200 tower.

Is it better to get a Blizzard Vision card, or a PCI board and a Voodoo card?

Thanks.
Amiga A1200. Blizzard 1230 Mk IV 50MHz with FPU. 16MB RAM. Indivision AGA Mk II. 4GB IDE CF.

The Voodoo is far superior. but you will need a PCI bus board to use it.

The Bvision can plug into the BlizzPPC.

I suggest you get a MeditatorPCI as that comes with a free sound card, and get  the Voodoo.

Hi

That would all depend on what you ultimately wish to do with your machine.

If you just want a gfx card only and aren't much interested in additional cards, the bvision is not bad, but 3D performance and features is below the Voodoo3000.
If you want to add additional cards in the future, it would be best to get the PCI board now and get a gfx card to go with it. No doubt PCI voodoo cards are inexpensive these days.

Hi

Thanks for the advice.

If I got a PCI board, would I be able to use a network card in it so that I can connect the Amiga to my ADSL router?

Is the Predator PCI board any good? I can't find a Mediator on Eyetech's web site.

Sorry to hi-jack the thread somewhat, but is the Mediator PCI busboard compatible with the Blizzard PPC accelerator range?

Just curious, I want to be able to go for AOS4 when its out.
