Amiga 1200 novice!!!
« on: October 05, 2007, 03:15:30 PM »
Hi there,

I recently tried to recapture the feeling of being 13 years old playing sensible soccer so I bought an Amiga 1200.

I only got the keyboard unit, game and joystick. Can anyone please tell me what cables etc I may need to connect it to my television?

many thanks for your time and help

Kind regards

Andy

If you don't mind about picture quality, you could just use a standard composite cable to connect it to your tv. If you want a slightly better picture, you'll want to have an RGB-Scart cable. They are pretty common so I'm sure someone here can sell/give you one for a few pennies.

You could also try to find a Commodore 1084 monitor. Even those are still pretty easy to find and shouldn't set you back for more than 10 Euros.

Thanks very much for your input.

Got offered a RGB cable for £12 (circa 18Euros). Is this ok or am I getting stung?

Thanks once more

Andy

As long as it's definately an amiga->SCART cable..

If you're not sure, probably better off getting it from here:  http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=226&osCsid=dbf2d557f22e767dbdff93d1bfdecb25

(If only I could get commission :D)
Back to action!

It was stated.

"If you don't mind about picture quality, you could just use a standard composite cable to connect it to your tv. If you want a slightly better picture, you'll want to have an RGB-Scart cable"

I can tell you the picture will not be "slightly" better it will be far superior to any Video signal RGB is far better.

You will see a major difference for sure.
