What was the name of this program (Database)

...Database program, on one floppy disc. It had like a brownish background. I used to use it for lists, because it had cells and was perfect for that purpose.

That sort rings a bell, I think that Softwood (the makers of Final Writer, Final Data, etc) had a early attempt at a database program.  It was on a cover disk and I think it had a background like yellow parchment.  Can't remember the name of it, it did say Softwood though.

It seems that it was on the coverdisk because they abandoned it in favor of Final Data.

Superbase4 was a good one, but I don't know if it's the one you're describing.

You are talking about Softwood's Final Data. There were up v3, and all use the cell idea (really more like a spreadsheet).
The only problem with this program, is that is not Y2K compliant. This makes it a bear to enter any dates past the year 2000.
For any other uses, it is still fine...

I seem to remember something, came on coverdisks a few times with different magazines, usually with simple WP and spreadsheet also as a kind of suite. The WP and spreadsheet were Interword and Interspread I think, but didn't have much to do with the database part, would it have been called Interbase??? I don't remember too well.

Edit: whoops, found a screenie of interbase, that has a card file type layout not cell type. So guess that ain't it.

To what use are you putting this database app?  The amiga has a few good programs but, the nature of the data determines what program works best.

Final Data is excellent for flat files (record collections, adresses, etc).  Some of the freebies on Aminet are descent, too.

If you are using your Amiga like a PDA, Digita's Organizer is good.  Spitfire (on Aminet) is excellent.  It was made to interface an Amiga to older Palms with RS-232 ports.
