UAE Kickstart
« on: June 17, 2003, 01:49:28 PM »
Just for the hell of it, I decide to try and boot WinUAE (The latest version) with an ADF of the Amiga1000 kistart disk...

It's weird... has anyone tried this... UAE boots to the Insert disk screen, but displays no version (1.2 or 1.3) which is understandable :-) But it doesn;t recognise the Floppy drives.

Still interesting experiment, has any one got it to work... I only have Workbench 1.3 from my dearly departed A500, so I can't try the original A1K Workbench :-(

I'm using an original first generation (still has some OS source code after the Rom image) disk.

After booting the floppy drives don't work. :-(

Isn't the goal of WinUAE to be a 100% perfect A500 clone?    That's a good get out clause if ever I heard one! ;-)

Fair play, but some of us are unlikely to ever get to see let alone use an Amiga 1000, it would be nice to enjoy some of the quirks of such a revolutionary machine :-)

@bloodline

I might have a few spare 1000's laying around somewhere. If I find them want me to let yanno.  I bought 4 of them for $45 a piece when Copperhead Tech closed down.  :-D

@bloodline

I know around here they sell travel kits just for that purpose.  So it might not be an issue I'm not sure tho.

:edit: doing to many things at once had to fix my post.   :-D

Possibly you have already sorted this, Matt.. but..

PSU:  no problems, just a simple step up transformer will sort that.  I can supply one at cost if you are truly stuck for locating one/don't know what one is.

Freq:  modern TVs sold in UK will handle NTSC just fine.  If you can't get one that will, there are other solutions too, which I can help you with.

Oh, yeah, I am in the Midlands, just so you know :¬)
