Mr Beanbag
« on: March 25, 2007, 05:22:38 PM »
Hi all

Just finished playing through the Mr Beanbag demo. I can't find any contact details on the author's site so I'm posting my feedback here in the hopes that they see it.

I like the game, but I think there needs to be a lot more animation of the characters. I don't like the way Mr Beanbag just glides along. I'd like to see him rolling or tumblng along mishapenly, how you would expect a bean bag to roll across the ground. Also I think the screen scrolls too quickly when he jumps which makes it a bit hard to see where you're going.

Other than that it's fun, and I look forward to buying the finished game :-)

They should change the character and submit it for the DiscreetFX contest.  :-P

Yeah I found the web site which is where I got the demo from. Unless I'm going link-blind, there's no email address on there and I didn't want to leave feedback about the game in the guestbook.

I've been looking forward to this game for years, it's looking awesome so far. Tricky talked about fixing the camera look-ahead when Mr. Beanbag jumps, and she said she was going to fix it so it wasn't so hard to see where you're going.

Unfortunately, there's been no activity since last year, and I'm fearing that something may have happened. I really hope everything is okay, and that we get this game soon. I haven't been this impressed with an Amiga game engine for a long time, and the fact that the game was practically created from scratch by one person, and a girl no less, makes it even more exciting and impressive.

Can't wait, don't give up!
Amiga user forever.

Hopefully this will indeed be fixed in the final version.

Hmmm doesn't sound too good. Tricky if you're lurking please let us know whether you're still working on this!

Does anyone know if this game is still coming out? I loved the demos, and have been eagerly awaiting the game since I saw it in Retro Gamer years ago.

I'm making my own platform game, but it's nowhere near as good as Mr. Beanbag (it's made in Backbone for starters, not coded in asm), but I think the Amiga still needs more games, because so many people are coming back to their Amigas or buying them up on eBay to experience the nostalgia of retro gaming.

Heh!

To quote out of context from Star Trek: "You know only the top of the line models can even talk!"

Oh dear! I've worked with several women in IT and one of whom I work with at the moment has great analytical and problem-solving skills. Although IT, and particularly programming, is still dominated by us blokes, the days of it being a male-only career choice are long gone...
