1084 monitor needs new switch

Hi

can anyone help, i am looking for a new switch for a 1084 monitor. the switch i have works but only if it is held in if someone can recommend a replacement ie, part number, and where to get one i would be greatfull

Its the power switch, it dosnt lock

Hi, try to go to a Philips TV spare parts dealer, they might still have something compatible

A common problem with our age's old VDU's, IMHO a Maplins catalogue and a soldering iron are your best bet. Replace it (the switch that is) with a shiny new one, it doesn't have to be a "proper" push 'n' lock job either so long as you can wire it in and mount it in place.

I had a switch go like that a billion years ago. I just bypassed it and replaced it with a plain old light switch (rocker type) that I hacked into the case. Watch yer clearances but there's usually a lot of room in those old cases but just keep away from the flyback transformer. It gets zappy!!

Thanks for the suggestion however i'm looking to replace the switch with the same type if possible, from what i gather, this was a common problem with this and the phillips cm8833 monitor. as they were the sameso if you could help find a partnumber for the switch that would be really helpfull

Here's another option.  When mine went out I just took a very small zip strip cable tie and secured it in the "pushed in and ON position."  Worked like a champ with minimum bother and expense.  I just used the power strip on/off switch to turn it and the computer off. :-)

Forget about replacing it, just remove it and have the two wires poke out the hole. When you want to turn the monitor on, just twist the wires together.

The switches attached to old baby AT style PSUs are exactly the same type/size - get an old 286/486 and rip it out!
