WB 3.1 save all
« on: August 30, 2007, 09:35:48 PM »
I have been toying with my WorkBench 3.1 waiting on getting the items I needed. Today I got the 9 pin to 15 pin converter so I am in multisync mode! Now I am doing a clean reinstall of 3.1 with all my cool progs. so my question is this:

Once I get it setup pretty much exactly what I want as a baseline can I just show all , zip it and save it on another of HD partitions to uninstall onto the main drive whenever I want a clean install?

Are there any programs available that make this easier?

Hi,

I *always* have a copy of my whole Workbench partition in a drawer called WB-Backup in my Work partition. I use DirectoryOpus 4 for creating this drawer and copying all the files into it (no need for 'Show All....' etc). It can also do all the zipping and unzipping you want although LHA is my preferred archive.

Here is a screenshot but I'm sure someone will be able give you a link to where you can download it :-)

EDIT - Actually, after a quick search it looks like you can get it HERE :pint:

Yank out the hard drive and do a backup to a Linux PC, if you can. If its an 1200 or 600 you can back up to a Compact Flash card and save somewhere.

hamtronix: also, DOpus 4.16 binaries are available from Aminet. It does work on my system, but annoyingly flashes the screen on startup, so I stick to 4.11 .

What are the full specs of your system? Example, I have a Zip drive on my 1230 SCSI module, so I can not only archive my workbench partition to it, but boot from it as well, in an emergergency.....

Id rather not yank anything out... and I have no linux box. I do have the old HD that could fit and I could just pop it in and take it out when done. That would be feasible. It is an A2000.

Thanks!
