Holden used to sell re-badged Opels (just like Vauxhall in the UK), and Omega and Commodore were Opel models in the past. The old Holden Commodore (80s-90s) was exactly the same as the Opel Omega.

So nothing new about cars bearing the name Commodore (legend goes that Jack Tramiel thought of the name Commodore when he was riding in an Opel Commodore taxi).

Heh.. the 70's and 80's Commodores weren't quite the same as the European Opels, as during testing in the outback the front end fell clean off the test models due to the harsh conditions.

They had to strengthen the body and fit a bigger front end to fit the Holden v8 in it :)

The VE's are a pretty nice bit of gear, but only if you get the HSV versions...
