A500 MoBo rev.6A with 8372A onboard - upgrade to 1MB chip
« on: August 17, 2007, 11:01:36 PM »
Hello everyone.

I have an A500 here with MoBo rev.6a inside and Agnus 8372A.

It seems to have sockets for 1Mbytes worth of 256kx4 chips for chipram. However, only half are full.

It also has KS2.04 inside and works just fine.

If I want to bring this machine up to 1MBytes of Chipram, can I simply fill in the empty sockets or do I have to change a jumper (didn't see any...) or cut some trace somewhere?

There is presently 512kbytes of chip and I know 8372A is capable of handling 1Mbytes of chip.

Thank you all.

I remember I did this mod years ago, there was a JP2 label but no jumper on the board so I simply soldered in the caps, chips & soldered the two pads ( where JP2 should have been ) together and it worked.
