Canceled eBay bid on my A2000 from 0 score cocoacrusty
« on: August 15, 2007, 12:56:02 AM »
Hi people,
Considering the recent horror stories suffered by some people selling Amiga stuff on eBay at the hands of people with 0 score, I felt safer cancelling the bid from "cocoacrusty".

Does anybody know who that might be?

Thank you all.

I just put in my bid. I need a replacement 2000.

And I don't have a 0 score and I'm not a reseller!

I have a spare A2000 I am willing to part with, but would rather do a trade.

No idea, but I've had great ebay interactions with new ebayers who had no feedback, and nightmare experiences with old ebayers who had decent feedback. I don't think I'd let that alone determine who I deal with on ebay or not.

You can always ask to speak to them on the phone or via MSN. The good ones should not mind.

@sdyates

I'm not in to going through all sorts of hoops just to place a bid. I usually find that special requirements are on the auctions of people who I'd rather not even do business with anyway. They come off as paranoid jerks.

Agreed.

Most of the time the new ebayers are less likely to rip you off... they haven't figured out that ebay doesn't care.

I don't want to sound paranoid. However, it is on this website that I read post about "new" ebayers bidding on stuff then when they had won the auction, before they even paid for it, they sent negative replies.

Oh well...

Look at it this way- many people out to rip you off know
their trade... Have you checked someone with 62 feedbacks
only to find they bought sixty-two "e-books" for a
penny a piece from other scam artists to build their
score?

Its true that ebay has become a toilet of fraud, but you
were selling an Amiga 2000, not a Ferrari or iPhone.

Yeah I would have at least talked to the bidder.

I'm always a little wary of new Ebayers, simply because they have no history. However, I have rarely had problems with them, and don't cancel their bids (even the Ebayer with 10000 positives started off with 0 feedback after all!) I do check their feedback though, just in case the 0 is because they've had as many negatives as positives, rather than being a new user.

In all likelihood this user just happened to see something he wanted, possibly wanting to relive his misspent youth with an Amiga.

Quite correct, everybody started with 0 I myself have been with E-bay for 4 years but over that time I have only brought about 6 items. If everyone canceled a Bid to someone with 0  there would soon be no new bidders :-o
