4000 vs. 4000T WB issues BB2 Magic menu
« on: May 28, 2009, 01:28:26 PM »
I have been optimizing both my 4000 and 4000T.  They are both running 3.9 with boingbag-2.
I found one issue with boing bag 2.  You have to install it twice or it does not copy itself correctly.
I was going over scsi/ide issues on my 4000 and found it was not patched to 43.43 nor amigaos rom update 44.57.  I knew I ran the boing bag 2 update when it came out 7 years ago.
So I searched on the net and got a fresh copy.  After did a cold boot and was fine.

I have been having querky things with my 4000T one of which magic menu 2.30 causes it to crash when using the "right click" menus.
I also found boingbag 2 did not apply itself either.  I found it did not change the names on the
"AmigaOS ROM Update" file nor the "NSDPatch.cfg.  They were still both with the BB3.9-2 extension and the sizes were different.  I renamed them with a cold boot and we were at current verions.

I did versions of WB between my 4000 and 4000T and they are 45.102 and 45.127.  Is there a way to make magic menu stable on the 4000T?  Or can somebody suggest a better magic menu product?

BB2 asks you during installation whether or not you want to update the ROM update. If you select "No", it does not install it as per your wish.

MagicMenu works fine on my A4000T with OS 3.9BB2...and also on my A4000.  Maybe some other hack you are running? Try removing hacks like MCP.

Have you tried with the following settings in Magic Menu Prefs:

- "Non blocking" activated
- "Verify patches" activated
- "Fix patches" activated

not running any other hacks but tools daemon.  The only difference is that the 4000T has the deneb usb.  I haven't tried it without
