« on: June 25, 2003, 10:36:01 AM »
I'm interested to know what people have done with their Amigas: hardware or software mods...

Please post here.
Dell Dimension 5000; Dell Inspiron 1300.

Here's my current toy:

A1200, Blizzard 1260-66mhz, DCE Internal SD/FF,
simple IDE splitter/buffer for a CD drive and
a network card via PCMCIA.

For software, I'm running OS3.9, and of course
Fblit, Ftext, Executive and the very excellent
Blizkick.

I won't tower this system, I'll probably leave
it pretty much as - is. It's been an entertaining
hobby to say the least.

Future projects include finding a nice internal
accelerator with IDE for the old 500...possibly
a 2000 or 4000 to build up, and of course
the Pegasos 2 when available. ;)

Well I have a large window to put in my RBM case (Does putting my A4K in a tower count as a mod?) as well as a UV light and UV reactive fan.. but I will have to tape those windows up on the chips first I think.  ;-)

The window is just a standard L shape one but Im thinking thats a bit sad now so Im going to get my tools out and cut a design in the case... If I can think what to do.  :-)

Ive just started upping my amiga A1200 and have just installed one of eyetech's EZIDE interfaces and got that HD spinning today. Here's my current spec.

A1200 1.D.4 MBoard mounted in Tulip i486 SX case (unique and one tight fit!)
2mb ram
EZIDE interface
EZKBD interface
ScanDoubler coming soon
250mb HD (one i had in the loft)
52x CD-ROM (in external han built case)
No performance mods as yet, hard life as an unemployed student but so far ive only spent about £40 excluding the A1200 itself but i was brought that years ago and most the stuff is from old cannabalised PC's ;-)  Its good to know theruseful for something :-P
Athilon XP2200 with Mandrake 9.1 and A1200 cut un shut into a Tulip 486 desktop case :-o

I haven't done JS with my A2000HD... It's pretty much a paperweight right now... (NO, it's not for sale)

My A4000D has the following:

A4000 mainboard Rev unknown (don't have it handy, but I do know it has a Rev 9 Buster)
Kickstart 3.1
AmigaOS 3.1 (3.9 is on the IDE drive, but not enough space on the CF drive at the moment)
Commodore A3640 040@25MHz w/cooling fan
GVP Impact Series II 4000 HC+8 SCSI controller
2.15GB Seagate ST12400N SCSI HDD
4.3GB WD Caviar IDE HDD
8MB Generic Compact Flash & Generic CF2IDE adapter (boot drive)
Apple 16x SCSI CDROM
2MB Chip, 16MB Fast, 8MB Expansion RAM
Sega Genesis 6-button game controller
NiMH replacement RTC battery
Super Glue (holding the Fast RAM in place)

Soon this will all be stuffed into a Compaq Proliant full-tower server case... It was a 486 with EISA expansion and the ever present hot-swap SCSI bays.

This case is so HUGE, not only can I fit the entire A4000 board in, I have room left over to add a PCI backplane if I decide to go PCI and end up needing additional slots! It DOES need a serious makeover tho (LOTS of PAINT!)
- Doc

A4000D, A3640 OC-36.3MHz, custom tower, Mediator A4000D. Diamond Banshee 16M, Indivision AGA 4000, GVP HC+8.

Mac Mini 1.5GHz, that might run MorphOS someday, when the fools who own it come to the realization that 30 minutes just isn\'t enough time to play with it enough to decide whether or not you like it enough to cough up $200.

 - Someone please design SOME kind of DIY accelerator for the A4000. :D -
