Got an awesome A3000
« on: July 06, 2007, 09:23:45 PM »
I got an A3000 from a guy who needed money. The front bezel appears to have have a slight yellow tinge all over it unless Commodore changed the color of the 3000 front fascia later in the production run. Anyway, when I opened it up I was happy to find it in PRISTINE condition. No dust on the board, no gunk on the battery, no dust on the fan. And it is the 16 MHz model. I could be wrong, but someone had told me not many 16 MHz units were made. So I put KS 3.1 in there, added a 2 GB drive, and a 2nd floppy. Beautiful it is.

Congrats.
How much did you pay for it out of curiosity? Did the sale include monitor, mouse and keyboard as well?  :-)

Those 16 MHz versions are pretty rare indeed, nice find!

The A3000 has indeed a somewhat more yellow colour than, say, the A1200 or A4000. Probably it's just the original colour. Make sure to keep a regular eye on that battery, they're as dangerous as suicide bombers - if you hear the bang (see the leakage) it's too late :-D

Really? I've got one that would be much happier (well, I would) if it were 25MHz...

I think only $100 or so and that included an A600 and a second 3000 board.

No. Both of my 3000s have different colored bezels.
