Flicker fixer question

So, I have an external SD/FF which shows every non-laced mode beautifully on my Sony 17'' CRT monitor. When a laced mode comes in though there's jittering, ie every other line is not exactly placed after ther previous one, looking like zig-zag. Is this how it should look like? Any tips? Thx!

My external FF has a small screw in its back which can be used to adjust this. It's not very effective, though, but better than nothing.
