Repairing A4000 motherboard

I have an A4000 motherboard that is not working. Even with minimal attachments I get no video display at all from it. The keyboard caps lock light is switchable, hard drives spin up. Tried reattaching CPU card, ROM's and all other parts that are removable/refittable. The power LED stays dim, and does not "flash" or become bright at all. There is acid damage around the battery area - the likely cause. Once cleaned off, is it safe to just use a multimeter to check for incomplete traces, and simply solder replacement wires in their place? Am I likely to damage the board further by the use of the multimeter? Any other checks to try before repairing the traces?

If you knew how to use a multimeter you wouldnt ask these questions.

As you obviously dont know, you should first read up on how a multimeter works, and what are it's various settings.

The last thing you want to do is put it on CURRENT and then start touching power and grounds

Setting the multimeter to "continuity" the one that beeps at you... you can do that with the power off and there is no risk at all if you take antistatic protections.

However be careful in your diagnosis, working out what tracks are connected and what they go through will be difficult.
