The value of an a1000

This is in responce to another thread that got popped for obvious reasons. There was an incidence of one person tarnishing another persons good name over a price squabble for an a1000 without any transaction taking place.

So what is an a1000 worth? I love my a3000 to death, but nothing can fill the hole that the a1000 resides in.

I have 4 systems, all from ebay.

1) Paid 30 for a broken unit ( no kb, etc )
2) Paud 40 for a working unit ( no bk, etc, was broken!)
3) paid 60 for a working unit ( with kb, and external floppy, broken all of it! )
4) Paid 120 for a working unit ( 2 floppies, pile of disks, printer )

I have managed to repair 2 of the broken units, having heavily scrapped out the worst one. So this leaves me with 3 working a1000s. They all came with the expansion ram, and 3 of them had the grounding wire repair.

So what is the value of an 1000? I would say just the unit alone ( working) would be like 30 dollars.

Well, I don't want to be the one to have to say it, but... It's worth what you can get for it. If the market says $30, then it's worth $30. If the market says $50, then it's worth $50. If the market says "I don't want it" then it's worth scrap value, or nothing.

It's all anchored on the price of corn land.

Yeah, it depends. I've seen clean units on ebay fetch $30, and other times the bidding gets ridiculous and they'll sell around $100. Seems to fluctuate quite a bit.

My *personal* opinion... If I *had* to own one, I'd pay no more than $50 for a nice working A1000, with accessories.

To me personally i think they are priceless, but if you would need a monetary so called value then i would say a working A1000 with KB, Mouse, and Expansions I would pay $100.00, but thats just me also.

They are worth a lot more with a nice keyboard included it seems. I sold one with a bum floppy drive and no accessories a while back for about $10.00 just to keep it out of the recylcer, and to be honest I was lucky to get that.

I just paid $50.00 for a nice one (closet stored for 20 years) with all the original disks from (KS/WB 1.0 through 1.3.x) manual, nice keyboard, correct angle plug mouse, ect.  I think I did alright.

Not too long ago a nice clean stock complete 1000 went for well over $100.00 on ebay, so you never know.

if its a incomplete A1k like the one that was in that thread (lol).. I wouldnt have paid that much.  I have (3) MINT A1k machines which are my prized possessions.  One is complete in a box the other two are just the main unit no kb/mouse but so effin clean that I dont even use them.  I bought the latter for $50 each in their original box a few years back.

Without a keyboard and mouse it is incomplete and not worth as much as a complete system... however if it was in nice condition then it is worth over 15US..

I have two A1000s and have seen them go quite cheaply down under.

I just paid $12.50 for one in excellent condition (No mouse or keyboard), but i have a mouse and well.. still trying to find another keyboard lol

I have two, one is mint but no box, the other is ok but a bit yellowed in the rear ports, and I also have a SPARE A1000 keyboard with cable.  I live in Tacoma so if you want it let me know.
