HD FLOPPY
« on: June 19, 2003, 12:27:06 PM »
Recently cleaned my A4000 flppy drive because of increasing disk errors. Now formats to AMI 880/1.76 and PC OK and reads/writes to these formats perfectly. However won`t read standard formatted disks without error. Suspect head misalignment but have spent forever adjusting top head to read original disks correctly. Your thoughts most welcome.

If it works with disks it formats itself, but not from other drives, it is almost certainly the head alignment. Remember that there is a head on both sides and if either are misaligned, you won't read standard disks.
