AFAIK, a scandoubler/flickerfixer requires access to the digital output of Denise. On the 2000/3000/4000, this digital output is available on the video slot.

However, the digital output in the 500/600/1000/1200 is available only internally.

However, I am presently working on an analog RGB to Y-Pb-Pr converter that provides the same type of output as common DVD players. This converter is external as it uses the analog signal and it is fully compatible with ALL Amigas from A500 to A4000T.

Even if this is not a scandoubler per se, when used with flat panel monitors, the flicker disappears completely.

If your flat panel monitor has a component input for DVD players it would be compatible with that device.

Would you like to be a beta tester?

I bet you $50 that it only has a 16-bit RGB input.

Huh?? First, an external scandoubler uses the analog signals from the RGB port, and will work will all Amigas. Second, the A1200 and A4000 do not have a Denise chip. Third, there are a few internal scandoublers which do use the digital signals, DCE made a popular one for the A1200/A4000, ICD made one (clipped onto Denise) for the A500/A2000.

My advice though is to be careful with scandoublers and LCDs, according to many they don't always play well together.

i can speak only about A1000 (tryed personally the past century) and A4000; they both have RGB-I digital output on the Amiga external video port.

pin 6 - Intensity

pin 7 DB

pin 8 DG

pin 9 DR

which anyway, are not required for an external SD/FF

The DCE external SD/FF works fine on an A1000. I use the very setup. It does NOT work with all LCD monitors however, so be careful with this idea.
A2000 GVP 40MHz \'030, 21Mb RAM SD/FF, 2 floppies, internal CD-ROM drive, micromys v3 w/laser mouse
A1000 Microbotics Starboard II w/2Mb 1080, & external floppy (AIRdrive)
C-128 w/1571, 1750, & Final Cartridge III+

You can send it to me right away!

The device I am designing uses ONLY ANALOG electronic components. Not a single digital part.

So if you have a device that uses 48bit to define its color palette, it will be just as wide on the output.

I can suppose to devices you refer to convert the analog signal back into a digital signal and then scandouble it.

The devices I am designing is NOT a scandoubler or flickerfixer per se. The scan rate coming out of it stays exactly the same as what comes in.

It only converts the RGB color gamut into Y-Pb-Pr so there is a slight amount of color quality loss but it is nearly invisible.

As a matter of fact, if you use my device with a cheap CRT TV set that has a Y-Pb-Pr input, you still have flicker in interlaced modes.

The flickerfixing effect comes from using it with a flat panel TV or monitor which does not use an electron scanning beam like a CRT does.

Yes, the device will do exactly the same job.

However, it does not have composite or S-Video output and it uses the +5/-5 volts output from the Amiga DB-23 connector and therefore will have much less parts and as a consequence, cost less.

Added edit:
I own 2 well working VIC-20s too and I like them very much.
