EPROM Programmer for the Amiga - does that exist ?

Hi everyone,
I would like to know if there is an Amiga based EPROM burner/programmer in existence that can burn EPROMs of decent capacity (8Mbits) or if there is a software for the Amiga that allows the use of PC parallel port based EPROM burner/programmers.

I suppose, in theory, it should be possible to use a PC EPROM burner that uses the parallel port on an Amiga if somebody cared to make a software for it.

Well, yes and no... my good old Promenade C1 on the Commodore 64 can do better than that.

Somehow, I would have expected to be able to get more out of a machine with 32MB of RAM...

The Willem programmer on the PC plugs on the parallel port. Does anybody know if can work on an Amiga? Is there anybody out there who ever cared to make a software to use it on the Amiga?

Any other potential product?

It looks like the source for at least an older version is available directly from the Willem website. It's times like this I wished I still coded for the Amiga but it's back in storage again.

Anybody else brave enough to make us a software for the Willem EPROM programmer on the Amiga?

The Amiga parallel port is a full Centronics compatible interface (be careful of any minor inconsistencies with PC specs, though), and the machine can run generic code in a variety of languages. Maybe there is a program in C or something, somewhere. I don't know, as I have never done any EPROM stuff.

There are several listed on misc page of the Amiga Hardware database. 1 is Amiga 500,1000 expansion slot, 1 is zorro II and one is parellel port. These must be pretty rare because I've never seen any of them for sale anywhere.

I use an old pentium II laptop running msdos 6 to run my parallel port eprom programmer. It doesn't make huge demands on the parallel port's capacity so it probably would work in Amiga running msdos emulation--especially with a bridgeboard but it might work with a software emulation. I have pc emulator for the Amiga somewhere but it's been around 12 years since I've used it. As I remember it was real slooow. Maybe in a fast 68040+ Amiga running it could handle the eprom burner.

The only eprom programmer listed in the Amiga hardware database that has any real value is the Multi Eprommer by Jurgen Kommos. All the other ones are limited to puny 27512 capacity.

The williem EPROM programmer, sometimes with adapters, can do both 8bit and 16 bit wide EPROMs and can do large capacity EPROMs up to 8Mbit.

Having a software for that generic hardware on the Amiga would be incredibly useful.
