Wanted: Escom Amiga 4000T case
« on: April 26, 2007, 04:03:18 PM »
Hello,

Is anyone willing to sell Escom A4000T case? It could be without the PSU - as long as all the other cruicial parts are there ;-)

Or does anyone know where could I buy one...?

Thanks!

From what I understand a standard AT case will work if its a full case. They are cheap if you get one to test it out.

Thanks for hint. My problem is the other way: I have Escom A4000T motherboard in standard AT bigtower case... And I'd like to put it in original Amiga case :-) .

@ APair

You will really struggle to find a case in good condition, on its own. It's bad enough trying to get a good condition A4000T (complete).
I looked for a long time, for a new case because mine is in scruffy condition. Some guys will sell, but there is a problem, usually it involves a missing or damaged bezel. For example TomSwift was selling a case a while ago, but it had no door.
The cases used on A4000Ts (Amiga Technologies) are Enlight cases. Check my pictures for more info, and check my thread on A4000T.

Although you are right, it seems like the ports module won't line up correctly in many of the different standard AT cases. I had to machine a panel for the ports module and dremel out a section on the case. Not perfect, but it's good enough.

Let me know if you find a source for the correct Enlight or Quikpak/Amiga Tech cases. I have an A4000T without a proper home also.

Good Luck,
Jeff

It may be worth you e-mailing softhut and asking if they have any.
They did sell just the case for $99 for a long time, cant find it on softhuts website now though.

Yes, I tried emailing SoftHut. I've found the offering for original a4000T case, but they do not have them any more unfortunately for me...

@X-ray

Yes, I've seen your great photos and enjoyed your all X-rayed pictures ;-) (BTW., photo library is one of the areas of amiga.org I visit most). I also happened to find info it was Enlight case - but I could not find anywhere Enlight cases either. I guess if they are sold online on some auction sites, they are just sold as regular PC-AT case, without info it is enlight "a4000t compatibile", which makes them hard to find via text searchers like google.

Thanks for info about your thread on A4000T - I did not read it before, it was a good reading!

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit, but does anyone know how difficult/expensive it would be to towerize a desktop 4000? I've always hated the desktop design. I found this link....
"Coolest Amiga in the World"

As I was going to be working on a MAME cabinet project soon, I thought I might do something like that with my 4000, but on a much smaller scale.

Or wait a sec.... would it be a better project to towerize my A1200? That case it already a wreck anyway.

Ok, back to you're regular programming...

@guru-666

It's a monster alright, but I do like the light up desktop.
