Can AllegroCDFS be used on A4000T for DVD support?

allegroCDFS is included in the FastATA MK-III (A3000/A4000) selled by AmigaKit
give a look to the site.

Someone bought the OEM version separately and didnt know it needed Elbox hardware.

If details about that patch were available it would be useful to the guy who spent his money already.

K Mediatoru bys mel mit disketu kde jsou zakladni ovladace ("Mediator system files"), je tam vsechno potrebny k rozbehani grafickejch karet Voodoo, Virge a ethernetu (samozrejme ta karta musi byt jedna z podporovanych). Pokud potrebujes ovladace pro zvukovky a TV karty tak
ty jsou az na Mediator Multimedia CD (to ovsem nestaci "obslehnout" ale to by sis musel normalne koupit protoze..  viz nize). MMCD navic nahradi i vetsinu puvodnich MSF jinyma, vysima verzema.

Wižth mediator you got diskette with drivers (med system files) - everything for voodoo gfx, ethernet. If you want to use soundcard or tv card, you will need MMCD , and original, not a copy!

I once got a copy fromy friend and it idnt work, it complains bout ¨Hardware ID code missing. i thought i have old mediator without patched adress space.


Nejde o "chybu", ta "chyba" v podstate vubec nicemu nevadi (maximalne
to muze bezet nepatrne pomalejc), pokud mas tuhle kralikarskou revizi
tak hlavne musis mit nastavenej jumper na Mediatoru na 4MB. Pak by
vsechno melo normalne fungovat.


 This is not an error, unpatched mediator works too, probably only little slower and you need to set jumper to 4MB.


Ovladace od "dobrodince" by ti
nemusely fungovat ani na novejsi verzi, dokonce ani ne na zupgradovany
verzi s chipama z jiny kopie MMCD. Proste ty ovladace z urcityho CD
jsou vazany primo na ty chipy co byly k tomu CD, na jinym Medatoru
jsou podle me nefunkcni.


Drivers from friend will not work, they are binded with mach chips, and i thing it will not work with other mmcd

To je stejny jako treba s Allegro CDFS, pokud
ho nemas extra koupeny nebo nemas nejakou cracklou verzi tak funguje
jenom s urcitym konkretnim kusem radice ke kterymu to bylo prilozeny
(pripadne pro kterej byl zaslan update) a na zadnym jinym.


it si probably same as with allegro cdfs - if you dont bought it or dont have cracked version, it works only with one particular ide controller which was bought with it (or which was updated) and nothing else.

MMCD se myslim prodava, podivej se na stranky Elboxu. Chipy by
zrovnatak mely byt soucasti toho CD. Nejsem si ovsem jistej jestli
jich neni nekolik ruznjech (pro kazdyho Mediatora (M PCI 1200, M PCI
ZIV, M PCI 4000 atd.) jiny), v tom pripade si dej bacha at si
objednas to spravny


MMCD is still in shops, look at elbox pages, chips are included (chain: thats not true, not at all!!!)
But i dont know how many versions exists, and you will need exactly right chips

MMCD podle nasledujicich instrukci (z manualu k MSF):

The only thing allegro offers over cachecdfs udf support whichprobably wont be encountered unless trying to use dvd film or the dvd contains a file bigger then 2 gig.  I tried allegro very briefly years ago (cam with 4xEide) but it would often crash the system upon disk insertion, so have stuck with the tried and tested cachecdfs ever since

But it's not worth. As I mentioned above, AllegroCDFS cannot read a single DVD more than CacheCDFS. You can as well use CacheCDFS which comes free with OS 3.5 and 3.9.

 The main advantage of Allegro is speed. It was marketed as the fastest Amiga CDFS. On the other hand, CacheCDFS is one of the slower. (from some brief test that i did) Much slower than AmiCDFS in accessing directories.
 I see that no one mentioned this CDFS. It is free and you can get it from Aminet.

Can you read DVD with AmiCDFS?

yea i mean, that's my question!?  I'm getting conflicting responses about dvds.  You can read them true whether 4000/1200! my question is can you view them as in watch a dvd! if so how, what setup, and which systems, so i can put it to rest! :evil:
