I'd be happy just paying standard going prices for something if it saved me shipping costs by being local.

What am I talking about?  That already happened 3 times in the last month!  :-D

Anyone in WA state considering selling a 1200?  Tj?  ;-)

OK, Amiduffer, I think maybe this guy who got the A600 is selling it for 10x profit. Correct me if I'm wrong :-)

Ha ha! I just saw it myself and thought the same thing. Its an odd coincidence, no?    Especially since he's only about 20 minutes away from Alameda. I don't blame him for wanting to speculate with collector computers, though. I hope he doesn't mistreat it if nobody takes up his "offer".

Maybe I should message and ask him if he's planning on "trashing it" :-)

Well, I just had a ton of bricks land square on my noggin. Some awfull realities you don't really think about came to light in my recent financial mis-fortunes.

Do you think about who handles your money, at whatever financial institution you have your money stashed at?

I bank at Bank of the West out here, and the level of competence was appalingly low. My employer bounced a check, and my account went into red. After awhile, I got a letter saying I had to get it taken care of, or the account would be closed. I tried to get an exact date of when that would happen, and maybe get the date extended and to my surprise, when I visited 5 different branches, and also called into the branch I had signed up at, I got 6 different stories!  :-o  The last one I had went to had said that I had until the 19th to get it taken care of, and went into a bank with some checks on the 19th, only to be informed that the bank had closed the account back on the 15th!  :getmad:  So, now I have to get this mess straightened out somehow.

Its sad to think that this is probably the case in a lot of other banks. Maybe I'll try a credit union or something a little more privately owned instead of the big companies that don't give a damn about spending the $$ in order to have trained people. Problem is, how do you know?

I don't know so much about banks, but Fremont Bank, while I never had a problem with them, has really {bleep}ty web account access.

As for credit unions, don't you have to be a member of the specific union, or no?

But what pan1k mentions is certainly true: most banks don't treat your money as if it's your money, fscking a**holes. Our money is making money for THEM, and yet they treat us like trash. We have to feel LUCKY that we don't pay "monthly service" charges. WHAT FOR? Having my money invested so it makes money for the bank? That actually COSTS? Jeeez, I didn't know! Banks are a goddamn monopoly, and nobody thinks it so. I guess we have to find out how to open our own banks, eh?

Good luck to ya Amiduffer
