PCMCIA memory card

I found a pcmcia memory card, Smart 4MB Fast Flash Card SM9FA2043IP280. Can it be used for the A600 or A1200? I don't currently have one to test with.
Would it require drivers?

Not as system memory.  You need a SRAM PCMCIA card to use on a A600/1200.

You may be able to use it as storage space but 4MB is a little small considering 20MB is the bare min you woudl want for a harddrive on an Amiga.

As far as I am aware SRAM and PSRAM are the only types of PCMCIA memory card natively supported by the system.

Though I haven't actually tried putting workbench on anything other than a SRAM card, I have a suspicion (Correct me here if im wrong...) that since any specialised software, if required, would need to be loaded prior to workbench being able to access the card, having workbench actually on the card itself wouldn't work - Unless you could hack the ROMs and patch them manually to detect and access your card.

Btw, I had a 1MB SRAM card with my workbench system on it for a while before I got a 2GB HDD for the A1200. The system had to be totally stripped down to just about nothing, and any programs or user documents had to be stored on floppies.

When using a flash memory card, you could use a boot floppy that just loads the drivers and redirects everything to the flash drive. This is pretty much how a Janus, A.L.F. or A2090 hard disk is 'booted' from.
