A1200 Desktop craziest projects
« on: February 14, 2007, 05:57:16 PM »
As i'm trying to set off for my new tech project involving my 1200 stock case i 'd like to know about the craziest projects that you've ever heard of or realised. I know that any serious expansion involves rehousing your miggy but I mean which are the known limits for expanding (without tower presence) the stock 1200 case (cd-roms, hd, accelerators ecc.) Any link to that kind of "beast" projects + specifications and suggestions would help.
Vampirized A500....one hell of a classic
ESCOM A1200, Indy AGA, ACA1232, 128mb RAM, OS 3.9

I have done a lot of hacks:

On my 1200:
- 4 way unbeffered IDE splitter to put 2 internal 2.5" hds, plus a CD and a CDRW (external units, 'course);:-o

- PCMCIA reset on Gayle chip;:-o

- Heatsinks in almost all chips inside the case, cooler fan for acelerator CPU,FPU and memory;:-o

- reset button on the back of the case.:-o

On 500:

- IDE controller with 2 devices (hd & CD-ROM):-o

- Zorro slot:-o

For now I'm working on a clockport MP3 decoder for my beloved Miggy....:hammer:

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

The latest Amiga Future shows a desktop A1200 with BPPC, BVision, internal SD/FF, etc.  Mine isn't quite as exciting but I have a Blizzard 1260 + SCSI IV, internal SD/FF, in there.  I removed the RF modulator to put the VGA plug of the SD/FF.  The expansion port is filled with the SCSI port of the SCSI-IV.  If I can ever find a complete IDEFix Express I'll throw that in there too.  Among the other plans are an internal CD-ROM.
Time to move on.  Bye Amiga.org.  :(

Well I build a internal slimline cdron into the left side.
Lines up nicely with the case.
Also inside is a blizzard mk3 and a ide harddisk and offcourse the ide splitter.
Had to make a aluminium plate to move the hd to the right.
Also mounted another plug in the case for the cdrom power
Looks good and works good like this.
Future:
Adding small speakers against the top case internal with a small internal 5V amplifier.
And I think I can also move my delfina into it.
That way I have a nice mp3 machine.
And maybe the transmitter off the wireless mouse in combination with the cocolino.

Somewhere on either here or on the rest of the net (the latter IIRC) there was a guy/girl that built his A1200 into an A500 case so that he/she could fit they're expansions and that in.
A1200T, 10Mb RAM, 1.3Gb HD, Apollo 030 FPU/MMU, Catweasel MkII Limited Edition, Kickstart 3.1, Workbench 3.5

You mean this one?

It's a cool project, but I still am a bit blinded by the color :-)
