PCMCIA WiFi Problem
« on: February 09, 2007, 10:08:47 AM »
I'm having problems getting my Wavelan "Bronze" wireless card to work in the 1200.

Symptoms are....
Hitting the "Online" button in the MiamiDx Interfaces screen gives me a "Finding IP Addresses" progress box ticking over for a few seconds and then goes away. I'm assuming it's connected but nothing seems to work and the lights on the card are off.
If I then hit "Offline" and then try "Online" again, the light on the card comes on, a message box which didn't come up before pops up saying "Initializing Protocol" and the machine locks up needing a reboot..... bloody frustrating!

I have both CardReset & CardPatch in my Startup and SetPrism2defaults as well.

Anyone have any suggestions?

At this point I am stumped...

TIA,
Rythmtech.

Do you may try use Genesis instead of Miami, just to see what happens.

Miami is a tricky program to use.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

Hmm are you sure that you're in range of the WIFI router, that the access is open (no keys or anything). I had a really hard time with wifi, and ended up just getting a gaming adaptor and attatching that to my 3com pcmcia card. Works like a charm!

Thanks Guys,
But I've just figured out that my card is incompatible with my  wireless router. I borrowed a Windows laptop which picked up the card OK but couldn't connect. Some more Google searching has me thinking that it's only a 802.11 not 802.11b card which is what my router supports.... Oh well back to eBay...

Thanks for trying guys.

Rythmtech.

Why not try a "fallback mode" to the Wifi card?

Simply use an older driver to test, you'll lose nothing trying this. :-D
