I came to and stayed in AmigaLand back in 1987 just for the video/audio tools and OS and stayed very happy with things like Bars&Pipes, Studio16 and Toaster for many years. Tough I continued with Studio16 and B&P for a couple or years more, finally XP lured most of my work away from Amiga with it's "some what improved" stability over previous windows platforms and the large choice of tools. Still each time XP lets me down with an error, crash or hang, I long for a modern Amiga platform. I've thought about Mac, but the OS is just "clunky" to me and very expensive compared to using windows on x86 hardware.
Today I came accross a news bit mentioning this project....
http://ubuntustudio.org/. Since the latest Amiga hardware and OS are still in limbo, AND it would take some time for modern tools to appear even if the platform materialized for the mass market, I'm going to keep an eye one this ubuntu project. Has any one else seen it or have any thoughts?
