Friying Pan,how to burn CDs/DVDs?
« on: January 14, 2007, 05:54:11 PM »
Hello to all Amigans out there!
My problem is to use and burn CDs/DVDs with Frying Pan.
I have three versions: 0.30,0.41 and the latest 1.0.
Using the latest I realize that I can burn DVDs too but when
I build an image in several parts to HD don't know how to
burn the DVD.
I previously construct my tree to burn to DVD but that's
all.
It's very important cause I'm trying to backup my HD to
save all the archives I downloaded from Internet since I got
my Amiga One with the reinstalled OSes from June 2006,and I
want to reinstall Debian Linux and Amiga OS 4.0 final
release this time (I'm using OS 4 update 4 now).
I don't want to read the docs again cause I tried with
version 0.30 weeks ago and I can't burn as I expected
I only want a basic knowledge of Frying Pan to burn my CDs
or DVDs and start to reconstruct my system.
I'll wait for your replies come on give me ideas!

Hi Ivanhoe,

Yes there are lots of people here  :-)

I'm unable to help you myself as I've not used Frying Pan. But I'm sure someone will be along to help you before too long. In fact, they could be busy working on your problem right now ;-)

Hey! This was my 50th post. Any chance I've won an A4000?

Firstly, your FryingPan must be registered or it won't burn anything.

I use 0.41 (seems to be a little more complete than the 1.0 release.)

Go to "Tracks" menu, "Disk Image Constructor" section, add your directories (you can just add Workbench or Work or any other disk and the whole thing should show).

Below the buttons is a space to name your CD / DVD.  (usually default name is "CDROM", change it to whatever.)

Now go to the "Write" menu.  Choose "On The Fly ISO".

Click "Write".

If all is well, your Disk should now burn.

Yeah lurkist I try to burn with version 0.41 and I build a tree
but after recognizing my drive it only shows 0 MB on the bottom
of the screen below the tree.
Then I go to the "Write" menu and the options are shadowed
so I can't use it.
I know it is for not registering to the program yet but in version
1.0 the bottons in the "Write" menu doesn't show shadowed they
are selectable.Maybe I will try later.
At the moment I sent two e-mails to the author and got no
answer so I cannot register yet.In the e-mails I sent him
the Env:FryingPan.prefs archive to identify my drive too.
Can I write CDs/DVDs with 1.0 not registered ?

no my friend, you need to register to write a cd/dvd and that's why it doesn't work. I'm sure Tom will contact you back about this. You no longer need to send your drive info tho, registration covers any device you throw at FP from there on. He accepts paypal too now which makes everything so much easier when comes to registration/payment. Good luck!

OK so I have to register.

How can I pay with PayPal.I never used it...

Is there any shop that can sell a registered copy of
Frying Pan?

I send Tomasz another mail some minutes ago  to register
Frying Pan and let's see if he can answer me this time.

All the posts are helpful for me

I'll be waiting
