X11 server
« on: January 09, 2007, 10:56:05 AM »
Hi!

I remember that many years ago I had a X11 server on my amiga and I used Netscape on the it by telneting to a linux server, take an export DISPLAY=amigaip:0 and run it.
I even got Quake up and running with this (no sound) but it's needless to say that the performance was not that good.

I searched aminet but got a bit confused. Can anyone point me to a good X11 server for amiga?

Edit:
Looks like Xami is the way to go... Anyone tried it, regarding performance etc.

Well, the obvious limiting factors are network latency, network speed and the graphics card performance. CPU speed might affect these, naturally.

It was nice with 10mbit pcmcia network 060 and BVisionPPC at least.
