HappyENV warning: Task Background CLI uses packet 995
« on: December 14, 2006, 10:11:11 PM »
I had the unfortunate mishap of my Pcmcia port breaking down
while trying to install OS3.9 via Squirrel
and ended up not finishing the installation.

But that's not what i need help on atm

This error popped up after the failed OS3.9 install
I have been busting my boing balls trying to fix this.
Alas to no avail, this annoying requester pops up messing up a clean boot into WB
it also hacks up the 'i dun remember wich' noiconborder patch i'm using
(I think it's MCP but i'm not sure, if MCP even has that functionality, lol don't recall exactly.
I tend not to mess with MCP once i get settings that don't cause GURU's)

Before you say 'why not just drop using HappyENV'
keep in mind that my envarc: is quite big
as it has been collecting env files for years
(380 files/36 dirs/424Kb)

When trying to SnoopDos the startup-sequence it hangs shortly after the first apperance of ENV in it's logfile.
Unfortunatly SnoopDos uses ENV: to get it's prefs
so i actually have to start it after mounting HappyEnv
i'll have to dig trough some docs to find if you can make snoopdos load it's settings without accessing ENV:

Unfortunatly i've been unable to format any DD disk i find on this PC-Clone into a 720K MS-DOS disk
(it keeps giving errors about the disk being damaged for every disk I try)
on the Amiga side i seem to also have no luck in formatting a disk in PC0:
(Couldn't format cylinder 0)(I/O error #23) (Error Initializing!)
So i cannot export the SnoopDos.log file for your viewing pleasure nor easely show you how my starup-sequence is formatted

removing the HappyEnv mounter and reinstating the original env handling routines removes the error but this makes my system boot so much slower and eats op too much ram

when i get the time: i'll type over my startup-sequence
(wich is actually quite messy and i also lack recollection of why some lines are in there)

You could try env-handler. That's what I use.

Edit: Oh, I see you're also having problems transferring files. You should try serial transfer between Amiga and PC.

HappyENV warning: Task Background CLI uses packet 995

This is not a bug, It is just HappyENV being whiny. When an unknown DOS packet is sent to HappyENV it whines like this.

Why it happens, no idea. But bug is not in HappyENV.

Assigning ENV: to ENVARC: could help (not sure) and after running SnoopDos remove assign. If you get it running without triggering HappyENV you could enable packet monitoring and packet debugger.
