Buddha IDE controller hangs with Cybervision card installed
« on: December 10, 2006, 01:11:58 AM »
My Buddha IDE controller card arrived today from Amigakit, and after some trial and error I have found that the A4000 won't boot with this card and my Cybervision 64/3D graphic card installed at the same time. If I remove the graphic card (not gonna happen permanently!), the machine boots and the Buddha card functions.

Any notion what the problem is? I'm using Cybergraphics 4 to drive the graphic  card, by the way.

Thanks!

Hi,

Which revision is your Buster chip? I had problems in my A3000 with a rev 07 and rev 09 (my CV64 often wasn't recognised, or the system would boot without the Buddha drives being shown, or both) and these disappeared with an upgrade to rev 11.

P.S. My Buddha is part of the Catweasel card, not a stand-alone one.

One of the brightest spots about me "new" old Amiga: It's got a Buster 11 chip in it.

Are you using an A3640 card for the processor?

If so, revision 3.0 of that card happens to be a really bad revision (all sort of problems) and also has been reported issues with Cybervision64/3D graphics cards. I learned this the hard way as I think it's the reason my CV64/3D kept crashing with OS3.9!

Hmmm. Indeed, I am running a 3640, but I'll have to check to see what version of it. This is temporary, as I plan to put in an accelerator board when I can find one. The only other "weirdness" I'm having is that VistaPro 3.0 will absolutely not run with the CV 64/3D card in my machine, even though I am not trying to mode-promote the program and am just trying to get it up and running on the native display. (I understand VistaPro and RTG do not mix.) The program works fine (like the Buddha!) when the CV 64/3D is pulled from the machine. Otherwise, no issues whatsoever with the graphic card.
