Cable for Spectrum 28/24 RTg card
« on: December 07, 2006, 02:12:02 AM »
Hi All!

I have a bit of a dilemma.  One of the forum memebers kindly sold me a EGS Spectrum 28/24 graphics card for my A4000.  The cool thing about the card is that it has auto monitor switching, so you can plug a cable from the native video output into the card.  This port is RGB 9 pin.

My problem is that I won a video slot scandoubler on ebay.  The out port on the card is standard HDI15 (VGA).  Is there such a cable that goes from rgb9 to VGA (I can always use gender changers to get the right connectors).  I don't really want to use a switch box, as it would be a waste to have an RTG card with auto switching built in.

Any ideas?

Check out the cables I have on my website (see signature). We can work out a deal if I have what you need.

You come close!  There is one with DB23F to DH15M, but I need DB9F.

Try Software Hut (www.softhut.com) to see if they still have  the old Commodore 9 pin to 15 pin adapters. Or if nothing there, try Redmond Cable -> http://www.redmondcable.com/  They can help, I am sure.

your best chance would be to find another user of that card, and using a polymeter, record the cable wiring so you can duplicate it... something tells me it is not a standar cable, but a custom for use with the card...

I used a standard 15-pin to 9-pin video adapter on my AGA 2000, then a 9-pin video cable to my Spectrum.  Works just fine.  I would, of course, prefer an all-in-one solution (DB15M to DB9M) solution, but this works for me.

is redmond cable still around? they do that sort of thing. but if amigakit does it, he could make a few and have them in stock for other people that have the same problem.

Inside the manual you can find out a wiring diagram to build yourself the cable. If you need I'll send you a scan!
