A500 keyboard problem
« on: December 01, 2006, 04:22:24 PM »
I can't reset my A500 with usual CTRL+AMIGA+AMIGA hotkey. System boots fine, I can turn on/off CAPSLOCK both in fuction and on LED. All alphanumeric and function keys are also OK.

Tried to sort out motherbaord or any custom chip problem with spare keyboard. Everything works 100% so it seems something is wrong on keyboard PCB. Oh, I have checked keybaord matrix for dust and dirt, that's fine too.

I have some electronics knowledge, so I guess it should be something related to the RESET ACTION circuit - either 555 timer or transistor. Or maybe it is keybaord controller?

Ideas, anyone?

 Hi!

:idea: You could try this, before open/change the keyboard:

- Select some icon on workbench window;
- Hold Right Amiga and strike "I" key : you'll must get the information of the icon.

- Start any aplication who have their own full-window;
- Hold down Left Amiga + "N" : you'll get the Workbench main window back.

 That is a simple test to discover what key is bad.

 If one of them really go bad, use that Aminet hack who very much good people use in towerised Miggys: solding two wires in the reset line to a push-button somewhere. :-D
Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.
