Removing/Changing A2000 battery
« on: December 02, 2006, 03:21:38 AM »
This is a lame question, but I'm not very knowledgeable about these things.  I have a leaking battery in my A2000 that needs to be removed.  How do I remove it safely without damaging the motherboard?  I don't want to remove the motherboard to get underneath and de-solder it, can I just snip the legs off with a wire cutter or something?  Is there another method that works better?

Yes, snip off the Legs with wire/edge cutters.  Be very careful not to damage anything else. Nice sharp cutters :-)
Also wise to cleanup a little round the affected area or the acid can continue to damage the machine for some time to come.

Hi! Preferably put a cell phone or a cordless phone batt. in another (safe) place.

You'll get the RTC working, no bugs caused by time mismatch, etc.

Goodbye people.

I\'ll pop on from time to time, RL is acting up.

What you can also do is just gently rock the battery back and forth until the legs break.
I did this accidentally.. hehe.
