Examining some options
« on: November 11, 2006, 07:30:26 PM »
Since I bought an A4000 today, I'm thinking of making that my main Amiga, instead of the A1200. Since I want more power and better gfx, I'm considering disemboweling my A1200 a bit, and the easiest moneymaker would be the BlizzardPPC.

I haven't checked Ebay or other resources yet, but can anyone give me an example of what I could ask for this nifty little piece of hardware? And would a Cyberstorm 060 card be in the same price range, or is it cheaper/more expensive?

Any info is welcome. If you're interested in the BPPC, you can also make me an offer, but I'm not completely sure yet if I want to part with it.

For those East of the "Pond" (Atlantic Ocean) the Blizzard is a popular item, as there were more A1200s sold there than in the USA, where an A4000 is more sought after and maybe more available.  I have no idea what it is worth, but as many have said here recently, it is worth what ever someone else is willing to pay for it.  Put is on eBay and see what happens.  What you get offered, is what it is worth at that moment.  Finding a CSPPC is much harder, but it you can settle for just a 68060 without the PPC, your choices go up and you have a better chance of finding one.  You might want to look and find your A4000 accelerator before you sell the BPPC from the A1200, just in case you have too much trouble finding what you want.

Good Luck, I think the A4000 is a great machine to expand, but expensive to find the parts to do so.

How are you helping the Amiga community? :)
