Toastscan or my noobness?

I'm trying to use my toastscan in productivity modes.

When I do the colors are washed out and I have tons of faint white lines going up / down / across the screen that change when I open / move files. I noticed that on the toastscan it indicates "bypass" mode.  Also, the flickerfixer mode doesn't work when used in interlaced productivity mode.

Do toastscans just not like productivity modes?

I tried them both on a vga and lcd monitor as well.  :cry:

Toastscan is a scandoubler/flicker fixer and productivity mode is a very limited vga display mode that the AGA chipset can display, so ..... the Toastscan cannot scan double a display mode that is already scan doubled.

White stripes in the screen means you may have some eletrolicty caps going to dead. Change them all at least every three years.

Here goes the list (nevermind SMD regular caps, they don't f*** anything). Keep in mind they are all 105 oC ones (don't use the 85 oC, EVER!):

His problems have nothing to do with the caps, as was mentioned above you can't use productivity mode with the Toastscan. The Toastscan was designed to use mainly with the Video Toaster and a standard PC monitor. If you must use productivity mode then you will need to remove the Toastscan and use an Amiga monitor.

Why would you need to do that? Ive never changed mine and they are over 15 years old.

Changing caps is a hardware security measure. Caps leaks cause a lot of damage in a board (I know, I lost an A520 and a A2000 Mobo).

OK, not the damage level of a battery leak.

In my 1200 I have to change the video caps (the most importants ones), 'cause have some "noise" on screen. After changing everything runs fine. And agree the productivity mode needs a VGA monitor WITHOUT DS/FF.

I use now a C= 1942 on mine and if I use some higher resolutions I see a "soft" shaking screen.

Maybe the caps of the monitor are going bad. Overheting in customs chips are also by bad caps in the source part of the MOBO, speccially in +5V lines.

It's not the caps. I'm also using a new LCD monitor.

I'm pretty sure I understand the problem here so thanks for the help guys!  :lol:
