No, you can't just plug any SCSI card in there and expect it to work.  You need drivers.  Your best bet is get your hands on a Squirrel or Surf Squirrel (added high speed serial port on that one).  Or you could get an accelerator card that has SCSI or can have SCSI added to it, like one of the Blizzard cards.

Sadly, that was pretty much the response i expected...

was hoping someone would scream out and say "hey i got a generic driver for that card"
but chances for that are very slim, seams to be close to none :- )

I'll probbobly be looking for a cpu/memory upgrade with a fitted scsi then.. but to have that work out in a good way... i would have to refit it in a "real" case... would i not?

dont wanna have "odd" cables running out from the amiga, i want my stuff to be where it belongs, inside the case, if i have to strip it and move it in to a pc case the fun is somewhat killed but i guess that would be the only way perhaps?

Thanks.

If you mean by a "real case" you have to towerize your A1200: no, not so.

The Blizzard SCSI-option (which can be fitted to the Blizzard 1230-IV and the Blizzard 1260) has a cable and connector which fits nicely in the expansion bay on the rear of your A1200 just below the floppydrive. You can connect any external SCSI-housing to to it, as long as you use the right cable (25 pins). I use a SCSI-tower with four 5.25"  drivebays, containing a CD-ROM drive, a CD-ROM burner, a DDS1 tapestreamer and a SQ5110 removable. Looks nice and works like a charm: fast and reliable.

And the SCSI-cable is just a bog-standard external cable, not the internal flatcable type... I don't like the idea of flatcables pouring out of my computer, whether it be my Amiga or any of my other machines...
Life sucks. Then you die. Then they throw mud in your face. Then you get eaten by worms. Be happy it happens in that order... My Amiga 1200

Ah.. there is a solution then :- )

I have a scsi multistore rack case somewhere to... hhum, should be able to stack a few drives in that, and keep saved.. then the question is, what is the best blizzard cpu/mem/scsi upgrade?

ok, i do have a limitation.. cash, but i might as well go looking for the "real deal" if i am.. so i atleast get to know what it looks like, im going to go do a few raids to a few friends that have a bunch of stuff, they dont even know what it is and so on...

Lets just hope for the best :- )
