Widescreen Voodoo 5 & mem help needed
« on: November 04, 2006, 03:22:55 PM »
Hey all, I finally broke down and got a 22" widescreen for my PC.  Didn't want my Miggy tower to feel left out so I hooked it up to the VGA input to switch back and forth.

But not is shows everything in letterbox type fashon!!!  I have a 1" black border on top and bottom and no matter what I do, I can't get the Picasso96mode software to stretch it.
Is there any thing I can do?  I've heard of others makeing their own mode setups for this type of thing but have NO idea how to do it...

As for the Memory, I've had several ppl. say that the random system halts I've been getting could be memory, but all the mem checkers on Aminet that I've found are old and either say everything is fine or lock up instantly.  Is there a good up to date mem checker anyone could point me to?

Tankz!

I found replacing the fans on the voodoo card and applying cpu cooling gel stopped the system halting.
There are several websites on voodoo cards overheating and how to prevent this happening.

I'm not using a wide screen monitor so unable to help.

I don't know if this is helpful, but some time ago I tried to get 1680x1050 working on my A4000T with Voodoo 3 3000.  Here is the link to that thread.  I was apparently successful at getting the card to run at that resolution, but the display thought it was running at a different resolution.  I eventually gave up, and moved the entire system to the computer room where I hooked it up to a 1280x1024 LCD and forgot about it :-)

I had problems with my system locking up after I installed the Voodoo card.  I first did a disgusting kludge of taping (yes, taping) a cooling fan to it, which worked but the fan kept falling off.  I installed a slot cooler below the card, and this fixed the problem for me.
