Picture Gallery Naming Project
« on: September 16, 2006, 06:58:14 AM »
There's a lot of pictures in the picture gallery  (e.g. from Amiwest 2001) that have numbers instead of real titles and no descriptions. Maybe people could go through them to see if they are in any or if they know who is so the pictures can finally get titles and descriptions.

Well, I can make an odd remark or, but I think I haven't got the slightest clue about who is who.

And I doubt that a lot of remarks on people clothes/hair/geekscale magnitude will be any useful  :-)

That's what we got now, just comments, but sometimes people know who is who in the comments. It's just not too awesome to get the mouseover popup info from the homepage be some random number sequence. Better beans for the picture titles to be more like "Picture from Amiwest 1994" if the people in it are unknown nobodies or "McEwen chats with Petro" if the people are knowables.

Changing the pictures' titles seems to be only possible for site admins (right?) so it's either them or nobody who does it.

I could throw in a few minutes every day to change some oddball picture names like "webcam23" into "Picture from Amiwest 2000" but I'll need admin access for that I guess..

Maybe admin power is needed to change the titles, but I was thinking that people could go through and comment on them it they knew who those people were (or pmail admins, I guess) and then the admins would know for sure who everyone was in the picture so they could make a good title.
